Choose Nottingham

Voted as one of the Sunday Times Best Places to live, our city and the region are one of the big reasons why a career at NUH is the right choice for so many. The city has been named in the top ten places to bring up a family and the top UK city to make your salary stretch further. Whilst you’re probably already familiar with Robin Hood (and yes, there is still a castle and a Sherriff), there is so much more to Nottingham than its legends. There’s rich culture on every corner with something for all tastes and a thriving independent restaurant and shopping sector The three campuses of Nottingham University Hospitals are based in and around the city centre with direct access to all of the amenities and attractions. 25% of Nottingham is made up of green spaces and parks but within a short journey you can be in the spectacular surrounding countryside of the Peak District, Sherwood Forest, Rutland Water and the Lincolnshire coast.

Your Colleagues

“Although cancer is a challenging disease, the opportunity to provide compassionate care and improve lives of patients with cancer and their families is extremely rewarding. The cancer centre based at City Hospital is one of the largest in the country and provides comprehensive tertiary cancer care for patients in Nottingham andthe wider Nottinghamshire area. We see around 4,800 new patients each year and currently have about 36,000 cancer patients in follow-up.

Professor S Madhusudan, Professor of Medical Oncology and Head of Service for Oncology

It’s a brilliant place to work. It is the best team in the world. I’m always happy coming to work. It is hard and it is challenging. We do the most amazing medicine with the sickest patients and helping them brings us together as a team.It is just the right size. We are big enough to have the right level of complexity to keep our work challenging and interesting, but we’re also small enough to know each other well and come together as a team and that helps as professionals and as people.”

Patrick Davies, Paediatric Consultant
