About:

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) provides a range of mental health, learning disability and eating disorder services for the people living in County Durham and Darlington, the Tees Valley and most of North Yorkshire.  With over 6,500 staff and an annual operating income of over £300 million we deliver our services by working in partnership with local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of other providers including voluntary organisations and the private sector, as well as service users, their carers and the public. TEWV serves patients across a large geographical area. Our main towns and cities are Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Scarborough, Whitby, Harrogate,  Ripon, Vale of York and there are numerous smaller seaside and market towns scattered throughout our patch. We are also in the catchment area for the largest concentration of armed forces personnel in the UK (Catterick Garrison). You can find out more about the Trust on our website See below for a map of our area and click here for an interactive version Our Journey To Change sets out where we want TEWV to be in five years’ time and has been co-created by you! Thanks to more than 2500 of you who took part in Our Big Conversation, Our Journey To Change is a reflection of where you want us to be and how we’ll get there.

What is Our Journey To Change?

We launched Our Journey To Change on 30 March 2021 at a celebration event with the people who helped us create it. Download a copy of Our Journey To Change. You can hear some of those voices in the video we’ve created to explain what it is and why people are getting excited about it.
You can also watch our launch event and hear from our chief executive Brent Kilmurray, our chairman Miriam Harte and Ros Savege who is involved with TEWV as a carer,  about what our future plans mean to them.

Our staff are our most important asset and recognising their excellent work and the vital contributions they make to patient care is very important. This can range from a simple ‘thank you’ in our weekly e-bulletin to nominating teams and individuals for one of our annual staff awards We have achieved the gold Investors in People (IIP) standard and have been commended on great people management practice, and demonstrating a commitment to staff development. We have also been named as one of the top ten NHS places to work in the country by the HSJ and our staff continue to recommend TEWV as a great place to work or receive treatment in the NHS national staff survey. The Trust has an award-winning system for delivering efficiency through clinician-led quality improvements rather than service cuts and our reputation for providing excellent services is helping us regularly to secure new contracts, which enable more people to receive the specialist support they need locally. More information on why you should choose TEWV is available on our website Follow us on Facebook
